LiteFlite

AFRL/HEA Mesa AZ - AFRL selected the F-16 version of SDS’ LiteFlite® Reconfigurable simulator as the baseline for their Experimental-Deployable Tactical Trainer (X-DTT) initiative that supports Air Force Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) research.  As part of this initiative, AFRL featured SDS’ low-cost, high-fidelity LiteFlite® simulators as the centerpiece of their I/ITSEC’04 booth and nation-wide distributed exercise demonstration.

USAF Air Ground Operations School (AGOS) at Nellis AFB NV - The joint FATS/SDS Indirect Fire-Forward Air Control Trainer (I-FACT) system represents the FAC training system of choice of the U.S. Air Force.   LiteFlite® plays a key role in the overall I-FACT system capabilities by providing a variety of fixed and rotary-winged man-in-the-loop (virtual) close air support training capabilities.  With over 75 systems sold to date worldwide, I-FACT systems are currently fully integrated into the AGOS training curriculum and are in use by USAF/USA/SOCM/USMC units and foreign military units alike.

AFRL at Mesa AZ, Wright Paterson AFB and Kirtland AFB - LiteFlite® Space/Satellite Operations Simulator (SOpsSim™) serves as a Satellite Proximity Operations Demonstrator supporting human-factors elements at AFRL/HEA Mesa involved in training for ground controlled and manned space operations; an integral part of the Space Access Vehicle Mission Operations Simulation (SAVMOS) project at AFRL/VA Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio where LiteFlite® simulates theoretical orbital and sub-orbital space vehicles and integrates with a number of other engineering level simulations and visualization tools; and at AFRL/VSE Kirtland AFB where SOpsSim-RSDT (Remote Satellite Diagnostics Toolkit) focuses on developing a space simulation capability that models prox-ops between servicing-inspection vehicles and resident space objects.

SOCOM C-130 Airborne Tactical Laser ACTD Simulator - SDS is supporting Schafer Corporation on this SOCOM funded Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase II project initially focused on providing a high-fidelity C-130 Airborne Tactical Laser simulation, using SDS’ LiteFlite® Reconfigurable Simulator, for inclusion in the USAF’s Distributed Mission Operations Center (DMOC) Kirtland AFB NM.

USN/USMC - The U.S. Navy has recently selected a LiteFlite®-based system to provide critical procedural and awareness training relating to Spatial Disorientation (SD).  The resultant Spatial Awareness Training System (SPATS) will provide initial, secondary/reinforcement, and advanced/refresher training utilizing classroom multimedia CBT/ WBT, non-motion-based flight simulation, and self-study CDs.  Use of SDS’ LiteFlite® simulator with its PC-based AAcuity® IG will ensure the flexibility and high-fidelity visualization needed to provide scenarios that present real-world situations to students for use in courseware and allow them to experience the effects of spatial disorientation in realistic, mission-oriented environments using non-motion-based simulation.

USAF Brooks City-Base, TX - SDS is currently under contract to provide a flexible. realistic MQ-1B Predator Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) simulation system for the Air Force Medical Service (AFMS) Brooks that will allow them to assess the impact of and possible mitigation strategies for the unique physiological, psychological, cognitive and environmental streeses inherent in RPA operations.  Using LiteFlite® as the core component, the Predator simulation system will incorporate a high-fidelity aerodynamics package, several HUD packages and an operator control station with fully functioning heads-down-displays and high-fidelity out-the-window displays provided by SDS’ AAcuity® PC-IG.

Micro-UAV simulation – AFRL’s Battlefield Airman Machine-interface (BAM) Lab, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio— The BAM Lab purchased a specialized version of SDS’ LiteFlite® Reconfigurable Simulator to simulate micro-UAVs in support human factors research and training regarding the effective employment of micro-UAVs (as part of the Battlefield Air Operations (BAO) Kit) used by Combat Controller/Special Tactics (CCT/ST) personnel in military operations
